Oliver is 6, 7, dang, 8 Months Old!

We feel like we say this every post, but man time flies and we have been super busy this fall.  November is gone and December is here.  The last post about O specifically was way back when he was 5 months old...now he is 8, almost 9 months old!  It is soo much fun to see him grow into his own little person and see the amazing bond that he is building with his big bro Everett.  They love to make each other laugh...especially when splashing each other in the bath tub (currently, one of Oliver's favorite activities!) and during meal times (which is not one of our favorite activities currently due to the shenanigans that usually ensue!).

We don't want to always be comparing Oliver to his older brother, but it is amazing how similar they are in their development timing.  Thank goodness we have the blog to look back at what E was up to because we were terrible at writing things down, but did a much better job blogging!  That being said, we're re-motivated to make more regular posts going forward...not just so we can look back at it, but our good friend, Katie, who has 4 boys under the age of 4 (the babies are twins!) is totally smoking us in number of blog posts and if she can work from home, take care of 4 kids, bake homemade bread, and blog, so can we!

Now back to the O-man.  When when chose Oliver's name, we were thinking we may call him 'Ollie' but after 8 months, I think we may have called him that twice.  We either call him O, O-man, Oliver, or lately Michael Strahan (O has a pretty big gap between his top front teeth right now), Jim Cantore (with all of the reporting on Hurricane Sandy, we realized there was a likeness pretty much only based on their 'haircuts'), or Chowhound (man, this kid can eat!).  Oliver has two speeds...ridiculously happy or screaming!  Luckily, he spends most of his waking hours in happy mode and man are those dimples of his cute!  Over the past three months he has:
- Gotten his two top front teeth (up to 4 teeth total)
- Drooled probably about 4 gallons of saliva (there must be some other teeth coming in because he always has his fingers in his mouth and he is like a faucet when it comes to drool!)
- Started eating solid (well, mushed) food and is now up to eating 3 non-liquid meals a day (he still gets 4 or 5 of those, though).  As we said above, he LOVES to eat.  If we just kept putting food in front of him all day, he would continue to eat it.  If there are puffs on his tray, he will shove two handfuls in his mouth at the same time.
- Can sit up all on his own.  He loves to play on the floor with Everett and loves to sit in the bathtub and splash with E.
- Plays with toys really well (at 6 months he could easily pass things from hand to hand) and is starting to annoy E a little because of that (we regularly hear Everett saying 'No, Olver!' and then find the toys well out of Oliver's reach)...and so it begins!

At 6 months old, we went to see Dr. K. (we'll be going back in a few short weeks for his 9 month check-up) and everything looked great, despite Oliver being a skinny-so.  He was in the 90th percentile for height (at 27 1/2 inches) and not even on the chart for weight (below the chart at 12 lbs 13.5 oz).  Because he is still growing in length and hasn't dropped in weight, Dr. K. was not concerned.  He reminded us that E seemed to grow the same way, so this just happens to be the way our babies grow - they tend to be more on the Larry Bird side than Muggsy Bogues.  He is definitely filling out, so we are excited to see how much he weighs at his 9 month appointment!

Sorry for the ridiculously long post, but we'll close it with some adorable picks of the little man!
